I really meant to be diligent about this blog, really...no honestly I did! So here it is October and summer has come and gone, the dynamics of home have changed and still I've procrastinated much more than I wanted to. But! I am satisfied to know that I have moved forward in my writing venture and not totally wasted my time.
1. My 17 year old grandson decided to move and live with his dad in Oregon. I miss him a great deal, but am relieved to know things are working out for him and he is doing well.
2. My need to cook and keep up with him on a daily basis is gone and now I have much more time to write.
3. And write I have! I got a short story published on Angie's Diary online and a poem. It does a lot for your confidence, believe me.
4. I joined a writers group in the town close by and have really enjoyed the comraderie of fellow writers in the area. While it's only 1 night a month, it's nice to look forward to chatting with other authors about our passions.
5.Through the writers group, I found a critique group and it has been an eye opening experience. I'm fortunate to have joined a group of people who are kind, but honest and very encouraging. It's funny how others can spot something you've read a thousand times and never picked up on the mistake. It's good to see the progression of your story through other's eyes, also.
6. I'm almost finished editing my first novel and am looking forward to the next step!
7. I am working on a collection of short stories and a stand alone short story.
8. My husband is excited and encouraging and we have more time together now. We've spend alot of it cheering on the Texas Rangers. We love baseball!
Although, I let the blog lag a bit, I've used my time wisely and have made great strides in my writing. I feel good at where I am and am pushing forward everyday.
I wish all who read this happy writing and I'd love to hear your comments and encouragement!!
Patty
