Since I posted here last I have actually published my novel, An Unlikely Arrangement. It's been an exciting summer to say the least. What I want to talk about today is not so much about my book, but about how we read all the wonderful new books out there. As a first time author, I know first hand the hard work and endless hours it takes to produce a finished product. Whether you are self published or go through a traditional publisher, the work is still the same. I, for one, still love the feel of a book in my hands, I cannot lie. But, my son and his wife actually bought me a Kindle for Christmas. Am I a convert? Absolutely. It's a very handy device. Light weight, easy to use. Instant books. And how affordable are really good books on Kindle?! Wow, there is no excuse not to read. Do I still read traditional books? Absolutely again! I have stacks of books I've acquired that I have not read yet and enjoy picking them up anticipating the time I can sit down and begin. I witnessed a mother with her child in the dentist office the other day. She had a reading device in the hands of her child who seemed to be an expert on how to use it. How convenient it was! Slipped right into her purse. And to see children reading is such a thrill, wouldn't you agree? So whatever device you choose to use, I'm all for it! The point is, it's a great way to enjoy all the new authors out there, a great way to get your children reading, and a great gift! Why don't you start with my book! Ah, you knew that was coming, right?
